School has started, the days are flying by, and Nanowrimo will be here before you know it!
Nanowrimo takes place during the month of November and is basically a writing challenge to write 50,000 words of a novel in 30 days. But it is also so much more than just that.
Nonowrimo is a challenge and it’s also a community.
Nanowrimo pushes us to write more than we thought we could write, giving us ambitious goals and deadlines that help us to make progress happen and get words on paper.
And yet it’s also a community where like-minded individuals band together with their ups and downs to encourage and support one another. The affirmation and enthusiasm of this community is precious and infectious. It’s like having a whole band of online friends there to help you out and cheer you on.
What about you?
Now I know not everyone’s writing process is going to be the same and that November may or may not be a good time for you to sign up for this challenge.
(Though is there really ever a good time for anything that matters?? Hmm?)
But if you’re thinking about it, maybe toying with the idea, finding yourself drawn to the concept that maybe you’d like to give it a try… I’d say go for it. Do it!
Whether you write 50 words or 50,000, whether you draft a new novel or become a “nano-rebel” with some poetry or revisions instead, no matter what your month looks like- it’s a worthy challenge.
I don’t know yet what my Nanowrimo will look like. I’m currently working on some revision work so I’ll probably be a rebel this year 🙂
We’ve got a bit over a month to prepare… Wanna join the fun?
